To London

Your humble & obedient scribe is hopping across the pond to London on Tuesday, but just for a week. As many of our dear readers already know, I am trying to escape the vile swamp of unemployment, and am attempting to find something productive (and, more importantly, remunerative) to do back over in the United Kingdom (or Ireland), where I hope to spend the rest of my life.

While most of our readers are Stateside, any of you who might have any good ideas, suggestions, or suitable persons to contact are warmly encouraged to email me at andrewcusack@yahoo.com.

Mr. Cusack,
Why you would wish to spend any portion – let alone the rest – of your life in Ireland is beyond me, but to each his own. However, if employment is your current priority, then perhaps you are right to look abroad.

I ask this next question because I am somewhat confused – why have you not thought to join a branch of your own country’s Armed Forces (specifically the USMC or Army)? There are jobs a-plenty there.

What confuses me is that your blog postings clearly indicate that you are personally interested in matters military (notably uniforms I see), and also have an obvious interest in international affairs. Currently, your country has been at war for the best part of a decade, and your Armed Forces have a chronic manpower shortage. You are young enough, intelligent enough, and I have to assume fit and healthy enough to sign up.

Forgive my asking, but I find it curious in light of the profile I have of you from this blog, that you have not gone this route, if only temporarily and in order to gain what is the most profound of life experiences. I speak personally when I say that it would be the making of you.

Yours etc.,

Xander

I believe Mr. Cusack’s suggestion of Ireland was only a parenthetical statement and that his aim was to say he hopes to spend the rest of his life in the United Kingdom.

Best of luck! (I’ll avoid commentary on prolonged Irish residency)

You ought to join me in Australia. No doubt you instead fancy Oxfordshire or the like?

When you say Ireland, what are you saying? Surely you mean Dublin? Not say, The Ring of Kerry, or are you?Goodness. It was the final refuge, the last resistance, to Cromwell’s Roundheads…is this your own final retreat?

Mr. Fraser brings up an excellent point- but it will only work if you join as an officer- Master Chief Petty Officer Andrew Cusack just doesn’t work. Or, just join the New York Guard- their website needs some help.
I’d recommend you to go to Ethiopia- if it looked the way I wanted it to.

To adequately answer Mr. Fraser’s question would require a response as long as an essay — which I just might get around to writing some day.

Andrew is disinclined to join the United States Defense Forces?

That’s no surprise, if Andrew is a fan of Lew Rockwell.

However, I do concede that Andrew ought to form his own Militia.

No doubt the pomp of such an outfit would be extensive.
