Maybe a cadet branch of the Oranje-Nassau or, alternatively, a Belgium Saxe-Coburg seating in Pretoria but with an explicit -or secret- allegiance to the House of Hanover could have worked as a reasonable compromise for the Boer?
Sci-fi History is no less delightful than History itself.
p.s. by all means, an intensive course of Afrikaans for the Royals would have been mandatory anyway.
