A Mews in London

Typical London, and yet the gable on Lion Lodge (the building which terminates the view), together with the general white-wash of the façades, gives it a hint of Cape Town. Lion Lodge is a recent structure by Liam O’Connor Architects and Planning Consultants.

Delightful! Good for London.

No, Cusack, not Cape Town but Belgravia. The houses of Eaton Square and its environs are painted white to let passers-by know that they have entered the profitable little kingdom of the dukes of Westminster: bright, neat, and phenomenally expensive.
I am always happiest when traversing ducal lands, either in town, as here, or in the country, as, say, at Chatsworth or Alnwick.
Aren’t you?

The sad fact these are private streets and when I was in London, police guards (not private security) would not let me walk down these streets to enjoy the architecture.

Shame about the tedious cars cluttering up the view. It’s a beautiful mews.
