More or less, the musings of a graduate of a Scottish university, born in New York, formerly resident in South Africa, and now living in London.
@cusackandrew: Visited Erskine Childers' old regiment in London tonight. His name on the Boer War roll of honour was pointed out with ironic pride.

A Sunny Winter’s Day in Eastchester

The sun was out today which made it ever so slightly warm in a most welcome way. I managed to get all my Christmas shopping done, which brought forth a great sense of satisfaction. That aside, I thought I’d share a few photos of here and there I took today.

With all this War on Christmas stuff going on, I was very happy to pass along White Plains Road in our town here and notice that we have a town nativity scene displayed, and on public property to boot, courtesy of the local Knights of Columbus chapter. Of course one wonders, have we always had one and just never noticed?

The Palladian window in the stairwell of the Library, garnished with a seasonal Christmas wreath.

The decorations at Twin Lakes farm this Christmas were particularly distasteful this year: a giant inflatable snow globe with Santa Claus inside. Very questionable. The lake, on the other hand, (see below) was looking a tad forlorn, though still rather beautiful.
