Most likely, God does not want us to abandon the Taiwanese to the Chinese, the Anbar Awakening to Al Qaeda, the South Koreans to the North Koreans, et al..... thanks to an ideological, illogical isolationist policy built upon the plush edifice of nostalgia.

No -- God didn't create the American hegemon. But it has assumed this power, and it must use it responsibly. Mr. Cusack most likely regrets the hasty European pull-out of Africa in the 60s and 70s; well, that principle applies here as well.
