Wedding Bells

I'm off to California for a few days (I've never been before) for the wedding of two friends with whom some of the readers of this blog may be acquainted, Abigail Hesser & Jonathan Burke. It should prove quite good fun, and of course we certainly had a ball at the the last wedding. And it'll be in the old rite as well!

Well, they timed it well...

Hope you all have a lovely time, made all the happier by the great news!

Yeah they've got quite a task trying to beat our wedding! They could pull it off though, if J B stays sober!

But, dear Mr. Cusack, smoking is such a filthy habit! I am aware drinking Scotch is a Jesuit's habit, but smoking? wp

Ah, Andrew, my wife has just learned that a dear female cousin, only fifty, has terminal lung cancer. I learned only this week that an equally dear uncle, of 62 years, my father's brother, suffers the same affliction.

Both were life-time cigarette smokers.

Please, my friend, stub it out.

Andrew -

Have a great time. Is it just me or do you and the groom look alike?

Cheers!
Harold

Fire up a nice mellow one Andy, and enjoy it. Ever tried a Balkan Sobranie?

Whatever you have, enjoy your social smoking at the wedding.

Andrew,

I'd just like to take a moment to thank you for providing a link to Daniel Larison's site "Eunomia."

I've recommended it to friends. In fact, I'll be doing that again today -- the piece about the WSJ's response to the President's "failure" to pardon Libby is excellent.

By the way, why would a grown man go by the nickname "Scooter"?

Hope you're enjoying your stay in the Golden State!

It is indeed a dirty habit, but I have the luxury of it not being a habit at all, Mssrs. Pongratz and 'Belloc' will be please to learn. I only smoke very occasionally, usually on social occasions (and I have very few social occasions now that I am here in New York). I enjoy a good smoke every now and then though, and I suspect I always will. As much as I enjoy it though, I must admit that those who chain smoke or smoke very often really ought to quit.

And I did pass on "Big" John's congrats and best wished to "Little" Jon and Mrs. Jon.

Mr. Harold, indeed I was mistaken for Jon once or twice during my trip, though usually only from far away or from behind.

KD, Daniel Larison is simply astounding and brilliant.
