A Royal Gathering

Click here for a photo of most of the world's reigning monarchs and a number of other royalty, gathered to celebrate the jubilee of the King of Thailand's accession to the throne.

A few weeks ago, Fr. Rutler informed me that the Queen of Thailand, upon acceding to the throne, made a vow never to perspire. No word on whether she's kept her vow.

Queen of Thailand sounds like a seriously great gal! I feel peculiarly inclined to make a similarly fab proclamation... Any suggestions?

On a different note, Mr Cusack, the powers that be at my workplace have blocked your venerable site - dash and blast is all I can say.

With kindest regards from your disgruntled pal in a library in west london x

It appears that Mrs. Windsor (a.k.a. Elizabeth II, a.k.a. Princess Philip of Greece) only consented to send the Duke of York to the gathering.

I don't see any representative from HM King Francis II in the mix there.

Mr Tim Ferguson best remember his manners in addresing HM The Queen as per his posting. But then HM is more gracious to pretentious queens than Mr Ferguson seems to be !!!

I find Mr. Tim's manners impeccable in their Jacobicity...

Mr. Ferguson's wrong, she's not Mrs. Windsor but Mrs. Oldenburg. Imho, that should be the name of the new dynasty when George VII a.k.a Not-so-bonnie Charlie takes the throne. Mountbatten-Windsor is pure fabrication. Not to mention that the Danish House's name will change when Prince Frederick takes over, so there won't be any problem.

Obvioulsy " Matthew of The Holy Whapping" and "Jacobite" live in their own little fantasy world of make believe. Get real chaps and grow up. There are more serious problems in the world that matter without your two twepers writing crap.

Mr. Walesby has missed the point of my post. Prince Philip's actual surname is Oldenburg because he is descended along the male line from a King of that Royal House of Denmark. (Why he changed it to Mountbatten, the English translation of his mother's maiden name Battenberg, puzzles me. After all, the Danes, unlike the Germans, were not enemies of the UK.) So truthfully, when Philip's son takes the throne, the name of the ruling dynasty of the UK should change to Oldenburg, not remain as Windsor or become Mountbatten-Windsor.
