The Australian

A surprisingly handsome newspaper, especially considering it is owned by (and, indeed, was founded by) Rupert Murdoch. Reminds me of The Scotsman in its broadsheet days.

And not a bad read either. Agreeably right of the other broadsheets; the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age (also known as The Guardian on the Yarra or Melbourne Pravda.)

but the “The Australian” is in such a clunky font!

What have you got against Murdoch? If you know anything about him, I’d be glad to hear it. He has never, except in the narrowest business sense, given any indiction of his purposes, aims, beliefs or ideals, at least, not that I have been able to find. His papers and TV here in the U. S. are the one obstacle to our utter Obamization.

“What have you got against Murdoch?”

The man is a republican who is firmly anti-establishment. He peddles low brow tabloids all over the world. Not my kind of imperialist, either. The Duke of Edinburgh despises him.

I know Murdoch is quite repugnant to what i believe in but The Australian is a very good quality newspaper and it is really appealing now that its been redesigned. I find it is probably the best quality newspaper in Australia as the other two rivals, The Age, is too left-wing, and The Sydney Morning Herald, which has been going downhill in quality for some time now.
