Sorry for reading me in French ;-)
No, I try in English. I was looking for texts about the wonderful Miklos Banffy and I find your very nice blog. Nice, because I find some of my prefereted writers : Banffy of course, and also Patrick Leigh Fermor. I loved his two novels (read in French, but his humour is very good translated) A Time of Gifts, and Between the woods and the water. Splendid ! But also Three Letters from the Andes.

I am very thankful to you! I learned to know PLF when reading The Cretan Runner on vacation in Chania, Agia Apostoli in 2003. Later I found A Time of Gifts, in Norwegian, and now I have decided to collect every book.

It is easy to see why, despite growing visibly frailer, he would never want to leave. Buttressed by the old retaining walls of the olive terraces, the whitewashed rooms are cool and airy and lined with books.
